Scenic America - Tree Conservation - caring for trees on a national scale. Some of the Best Darn Volunteers in the State of Texas - North Texas Chapter, Texas Master Naturalists This state-wide program is sponsored by Texas Cooperative Extension and Texas Parks and Wildlife to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities. NTMN members work to support UFAC and Texas Tree Trail initiatives. Let's not forget about the Master Gardeners! The are also some of the best darn volunteers in the state of Texas! - Dallas County Master Gardener Association. Their mission is to be an educational, nonprofit, volunteer and service corporation which renders non-biased, sound horticultural information to the community. Master Gardeners work in partnership with the Texas Cooperative Extension and are the service arm of Extension Horticulture. Their objectives are accomplished through the volunteer efforts of Association Members. Committee members volunteered to help community kids in the KDFW Fox4 Treasure Hunt at the Discovery Gardens, Fair park, Dallas, Oct. 2007. See video clips of the event. There are many other unsung heroes in the Dallas citizenry who silently volunteer there time and talents and never make headlines. To quote Pepper Provenzano of Treelink, "They are the backbone of nonprofit organizations, and those nonprofits match your donated buck and make it worth what a buck used to be worth, with an endless wellspring of volunteer muscle and know-how and passion, driven by no other choice but the simple good of it. Some say you have to give to get in this world. I think there's more to it. Volunteers are like an unseen force in the evolutionary process of spiritual enrichment, but they also drive our roots into the earth and our limbs heavenward. That's more than a platitude, and not just a metaphor."
